Bunny and I saw “The Martian,”
the movie about an astronaut being stranded on Mars and having to spend the next year or so surviving the harsh conditions.
My understanding is that the book
is about as accurate as you can get
(with the sole exception of Martian sand storms aren't quite as bad as depicted,
but the hero had to be stranded somehow for the story to work).
I can understand that
some concessions
had to be made for Hollywood but still,
this is some serious hard science in this movie,
along with hard decisions that NASA wrestles with,
dancing a delicate line between public relations success and disaster.
We both loved the movie,
and feel it's well worth seeing Matt Damon
coming home.
